Do Chemical Peels Hurt?

Published on November 30, 2018 by

The name “chemical peel” can be very off-putting to some people. When people think chemicals, they tend to think of industrial chemicals that are caustic and dangerous, which gives them the impression that a chemical peel is a painful ordeal.

The thing you have to understand is that chemical peels come in various strengths. Light peels can cause a tingling sensation that may be uncomfortable but not painful. The sensation also dissipates quickly.

Deep chemical peels are significantly more intense and can cause a good amount of discomfort. However, these stronger options provide longer-lasting results, and numbing methods may be available to make the treatment more comfortable.

The best thing to do is to start with a light peel and get a feel for the process. Light peels offer a lot of benefits, and as you become accustomed to them, you can move on up to medium peels and eventually deep peels once you are comfortable with them.

At Sensational Skin, we offer light, medium, and deep peels. We strive to make sure our patients are as comfortable as possible, and we can adjust our care to suit your needs. Contact us to schedule a consultation today.
